Programs

Group exercise

Our experienced and certified instructors encourage, teach and motivate members through a variety of classes, from aerobics to yoga to indoor cycling. Classes are offered for all levels at different times of the day. Instructors strive to develop a supportive relationship with participants to help them achieve their personal goals at their own pace. Aquatics

Enjoy views of the river as you work out in this no-impact environment.  Lap swimming is available at all hours, and aerobic classes will be offered in a portion of the lap pool during off-peak lap swimming hours. Also, range-of-motion and stretching classes are available in the warm water therapy pool and you can always relax in the warmest pool of all, our whirlpool spa. Click here to view the pool exercise schedule.

Endurance & strength

Endurance and strength training are provided through the Life Fitness equipment line or with free weights. For those who would benefit from guidance or individualized instruction, group classes and individual sessions with a personal trainer are available. Meet the March Wellness personal trainers, click here.

Functional training

Functional training is focused on training your body to move effectively and powerfully in everyday life and activities, often in preparation for a specific activity such as golf or skiing.  Instead of practicing on a machine, you perform the appropriate movement with a weight or some other resistance.

Balance & flexibility

Everyone can improve their flexibility in ways other than traditional stretching. Flexibility and balance are incorporated into our group exercise classes and a variety of balance equipment is available in the cardio fitness & strength training area.  Many of our classes, such as yoga or Tai Chi, are extremely beneficial for improving balance and flexibility.

Core strength

The strength of the body’s core is essential to body balance, overall strength and improved functionality in many activities. Without a strong core the body loses its main source of support.  Members can strengthen their core in group classes (for example, core strength or Pilates classes) or individually with equipment.

Nutrition & healthy cooking

Healthy cooking classes and presentations are offered in our teaching kitchen. Under the guidance of OHSU nutritionists and local chefs, members can get help with menu planning, learn new recipes and taste healthy food creations.

Intramural sports

Intramural sports strengthen the whole individual - physically, socially, intellectually, and emotionally - by offering a sports experience that builds a positive sense of self through team building and healthy competition. Intramurals are offered in basketball, soccer and volleyball and played in the state-of-art gymnasium. To view the gym and intramural schedule, click here.

March ahead

A Phase III medically directed cardiac rehab class that will also serve members with hypertension, high cholesterol, diabetes, peripheral vascular disease, obesity, arthritis, and mild fybromyalgia. Members participate at their own pace, based on their individualized exercise prescription.
